Competency Based Training:
Competency Based training (CBT) is designed to allow the learner to demonstrate their ability to compete set tasks. There is no comparison or grading between learners. CBT is the recognised training method for all vocational training in Australia. It is designed in consultation with industry which means the skills you learn in your training are relative to the industry. All training delivered at Emergency Australia is competency based which means that you do not receive grades and you do not fail if the first time you do not complete tasks satisfactorily, you are assessed as either competent or not yet competent. You may resubmit tasks or retake assessments until you achieve competency. You must achieve competency in all tasks within all units to receive the course award. If after multiple attempts you are still not achieving competency our learning support team may contact you to discuss your progress.
